Born and raised in China, Shaoqing Xu started his violin playing at the age of 5. In 2006, he studied at Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. In 2010, he came to the United States to study with the Shanghai String Quartet at Montclair State University in New Jersey. Upon graduation he went to study with Professor Jesse Mills at Bard College in New York and was a teaching assistant at Longy School of Music in Boston. He received a double Master of Arts degree in String Performance from both schools in February of 2017. He has been teaching students of all ages in both violin and viola at Montclair State University, Boston Suzuki Institute, Longy School of Music of Bard College and New Mozart School of Music.
